Create Position

Overview

The Position Creation step allows you to establish liquidity positions in DeFi pools with precise control over your capital deployment. This form provides advanced customization for range orders, deposit strategies, and conditional execution.

Position and Strategy Types

Position Type:

  • Balanced: Provide liquidity using both tokens in the pair.

  • One-sided X/Y: Provide liquidity using only one token type (either X or Y).

Strategy Type:

  • Spot: Provides a uniform distribution that is versatile and risk adjusted, suitable for any type of market and conditions. This is similar to setting a CLMM price range.

  • Bid-Ask: Is an inverse Curve distribution, typically deployed single sided for a DCA in or out strategy. It can be used to capture volatility especially when prices vastly move out of the typical range.

  • Curve: Is ideal for a concentrated approach that aims to maximise capital efficiency. This is great for stables or pairs where the price does not change very often.

Price Trigger (Conditional Creation):

This optional feature allows your position to be created only when specific market conditions are met.

  • Enable/Disable: Toggle the price trigger functionality.

  • Current Price: Displays the current market price with a refresh button.

  • Condition Type: Choose "Above" or "Below" to determine when the position will be created.

  • Price Target: Set the exact price or percentage that triggers position creation.

  • Percentage Mode: Toggle between absolute price or percentage of current price.

Deposit Amounts:

Configure how much of each token you wish to provide as liquidity.

  • Use Percentages: Toggle between exact amounts and percentages of your balance. You can also use to define what percentage of your wallet balance to commit, useful for strategies that execute in the future when balances might change.

  • Auto-fill: When enabled, automatically calculates the equivalent amount of the other token based on the current price.

  • Balance Controls: Quickly set values to half or maximum of your available balance.

Position Range Settings

Control how your liquidity is placed and spread in relation to the current market price.

Range Modes:

  • Bin Mode: Set ranges in terms of "bins" (the protocol's internal pricing increments).

  • Price Mode: Define ranges using exact pool prices.

  • Percentage Mode: Set ranges as percentages above/below current price.

Range Components:

For both upper and lower ranges:

  • Range Value: How far from current price your liquidity extends.

  • Threshold Value: The price point at which an action might be triggered (for multi-step strategies).

Position Visualization:

The interactive diagram shows:

  • Current price position

  • Range of your liquidity deployment

  • Token distribution based on your strategy

  • Threshold markers for next step/action triggering

Slippage Settings:

Set the maximum acceptable price change between submission and execution of your transaction.

  • Standard values range from 0.1% to 3% depending on market volatility.

Key Concepts:

  • Bins: The protocol's internal pricing increments used to organize liquidity.

  • Range: The price zone where your liquidity is active and earning fees.

  • Threshold: Price points that can trigger actions in multi-step strategies.

  • Price Spread: The percentage difference between your upper and lower range prices.

  • Bin Step: The protocol's price increment size (shown as a percentage).

Tip: Create Strategy step is by default the first step on the timeline, but you can choose any other step. For example, set a Swap with a price trigger as the first step waiting to get the best price and then place a Create Position with an X% amount.
